      Mom passed away peacefully at Broadmead Lodge surrounded by family. She had been in declining health for about six tears and finally about a year ago moved from the family home into full time care.She was predeceased by her husband Edwin in 2006 and is survived by her children; John (Barbara), Mary (Michael) O'Neill and Gordon; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
      Jean was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to John and Katie Sinclair and moved at an early age first to North Vancouver and then to White Rock where she attended public school, graduating from Semiahmoo in 1942. She then attended a further year at Duke of Connaught High school graduating in the class of 1943.Her next step was U B C, graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Mathematics, which led to a career as a high school teacher.Jean retired from teaching when she married Edwin Lyon on Dec.26, 1953 and moved to her new home on a farm in Saanichton where she lived until entering care.
      She was active in the Agricultural Society, the Shady Creek U C W and loved to sing in the church choir. she was always present at church bazaars and teas.

      A memorial service will be held at Shady Creek United Church on East Saanich Rd.on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 1:30 PM.Interment and fellowship will follow the service.
