While young he started for this country. He lived for a long time on the Perley farm between Woodstock and Houlton. He worked hard and raised a large family, having been twice married. Mr. L. outlived both wives. He was buried yesterday at Greenfield in the Church of England burying ground. The deceased's daughter, Mrs. TURNEY of Richmond, U.S. did not reach Greenfield until her father was buried. 639 | Obituary Muriel Eileen Hallett 1926 - 2023 It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Muriel Hallett of Fredericton NB at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Muriel was born on December 4th, 1926 in Beauford, NB. She was the daughter of Oliver and Edith Adams. Around the age of 3, she moved with her family to Juniper. Muriel attended school there and after graduating went to Vocational School in Woodstock. She took a commercial course in typing, shorthand, and office management. Muriel quickly found a job with J. Clark and Sons in Perth. She moved to the Fredericton office in 1952 and later worked for Atlas Construction until she retired in 1988. Muriel had known her husband, Jim, ever since she could remember. Their families lived beside each other in Juniper. They were married in 1957. She used to say that “Jim is a Saint” because he had three women living in their house. Muriel’s sister Pauline moved in with them in 1958 and later her mother did too. Muriel enjoyed travelling, regularly connecting with her father’s relatives in PEI. Her mother came from England as a “Middlemore Homes” child, so they often visited family in England over the years. Muriel’s adventures took her around Europe, Scotland, Ontario, Newfoundland, United States, and a cruise in the Caribbean. After a winter visit to see family in Florida, Muriel, Jim, Pauline, and Edith decided to make It a yearly winter stay for over 30 years. Even after Jim passed, Muriel continued to drive herself and Pauline to St. Petersburg, except for the last few years that they went and they hired a driver. She was predeceased by her parents Edith and Oliver Adams, her husband James (Jim) Alexander Hallett, and her sister Pauline Adams, nephew Laurie Mersereau, and many brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws and nieces. Muriel left behind many relatives: Doris and Jill Mersereau, Michelle, Eric, Alice and Clara Thornhill, Guida and Don Libby, and many Adams and Hallett relatives. Muriel also had a steadfast adopted family of Anne, Andy, Mitchell (Kaitlin) and Carter (Sara) Small and their extended family. She was actively involved with Gibson Memorial United Church, helping with their many fundraising endeavors. Muriel also liked reading, sewing, playing cards, knitting, and puzzles. She was always ready for an outing, if only to Pizza Delight or a long drive to see the trees and flowers. We would like to thank the folks at Windsor Court for their kindness and support over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held from York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 10 am, followed by Memorial Service in York Funeral Home’s T. 663 | Obituary; Lewis F. Lamont Mapleton - Lewis F. Lamont, 86, passed away on May 7, 2024 peacefully at the Aroostook House of Comfort with his daughter, son in law and granddaughter by his side. His family was his greatest achievement, he loved listening to the antics of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lewis was born in Glassville, New Brunswick on March 15, 1938. The son of Kenneth and Marjorie (Brewer) Lamont. As a young boy his family moved to Bridgewater, Maine where they lived on a farm. Lewis was always a dedicated, hard worker and worked the farm with his father and brothers. At the age of 14 began working for neighboring potato farmers. Lewis often reminisced telling stories of the Zayre days where he spent 31 years before retiring in 1989. Lewis loved being in management and worked his way up to become the store manager in Waterville, Presque Isle, and Madawaska. He always valued the lessons, experiences and friendships he had there. He was especially proud of events he was able to help with and put on in the community. In 1969 Lewis joined the masonic order where he was a member for over 50 years. He was very proud of the award that he received for being a member for 50 years in 2019. In 1972 he joined the Shriners where he sponsored a young lady for the Shiners Children's Hospital in Springfield, Mass for several years. Lewis was a proud member of the Shriners always wearing his Shriners ring, and happy to help the children of Aroostook County. Lewis and his sons had a love of engines, mostly in dirt bikes and motorcycles. Lewis loved a good deal and would travel the County dickering for used bikes to buy, take apart, and sell for parts. Through Ebay and the help of his grandchildren he sold and shipped parts all over the world. After retiring Lewis and his beloved wife Clara filled their days with family and lake adventures at Portage. They were also on the board of the brain injury association of Maine and spent many hours driving up and down the interstate to advocate for their son Dave, and the brain injured people of Maine. There is an award in their honor, the Lewis and Clara Lamont Brain Injury Advocacy Award. In 2010 the council presented an Advocacy Award to Lewis and Clara Lamont for their amazing work with the Brain Injury Association of America’s Maine Chapter as well as their strong advocacy for individuals impacted by brain injury. The award is presented every year in their name to someone who has positively influenced the brain injury community. It was an unfortunate event that lead them to being advocates, however being advocates was one of their most fulfilling achievements. Lewis was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years Clara (Rideout) Lamont, Grandson Shawn Morin, mother and father Kenneth and Marjorie Lamont, sister Marilyn (Lamont) Michot, and Sister-in-law Sheila Lamont. Dad left Glassville New Brunswick a young man and went to Kitchener, Ontario. While ice skating he met my mom. He worked hard at construction for Dunkers and XDG for many years. Two of his bigger builds were the Beachwood dam in New Brunswick and B.F. Goodrich in Kitchener. He loved country music, catching speckled trout from a brook down home, animals and snowmobiling. But when it comes to my mind about my dad is how he kept his vehicles spotless. He knew how to wash and wax a car. To this day he has 1994 Ford Truck that looks like it just came off the assembly line. Dad was particular, and when he became laid off from construction at the age of 54 he became the neighbourhood grass cutter and snow blower. Everyone knew her would do an impeccable job. He became high in demand doing most any job to perfection. Then fixing small engines became his biggest pass time. From all over people would leave mowers new and old in the driveway for him to fix. When I visited I always had to see the newest project and get the details of the problems. By the next visit I was called to the garage to hear it running and see the new paint job. I don’t think there was ever a conversation the New Brunswick didn’t come up. That was home and Dad I know your soul will be forever down east. Thank you to all the friends that dropped treats off and gave words of encouragement . To all of the Doctors, Nurses, PSW Workers, Chris the spiritual provider, Bill a neighbour and friend dad depended on and could count on. Special thanks for being there all the times that we needed you in dad’s final weeks. Special thank you to Rosie the cat dad’s newest companion and best medicine in his final weeks. A private family service will be held in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Arthur, on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Ronald’s service will be video taped and a link will be provided below on Friday February 12, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Richard Zbarski Pets in Need Fund, part of Laurentian Hills Animal Hospital. c/o Amy Weber 720 Westmount Road East, Unit 6, Kitchener, Ontario, N2E 2M6 https://www.heritagefuneralhomes.ca/2021/02/ronald-de-long/ ******************************** Remembering DELONG In Memory of the late RONALD GEORGE DELONG Oct. 15, 1938 - Feb. 4, 2021 A monument has been placed in the Bristol Cemetery.
