Mona Lucille LaVigne
1931-2024

Mona Lucille (Shannon) LaVigne of Vernon, Connecticut at the age of 92 passed away after a life well lived surrounded by friends and family on April 24, 2024. She was born November 4, 1931, in Florenceville, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of the late John William and Carmen Lita (White) Shannon. On May 7th, 1951, she married Ralph Edward LaVigne. They were married for 66 years before his passing in 2017. Throughout her life she lived in many places including Canada, Maine, Connecticut, Texas, and lastly Galena, Missouri. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Martin Peter, a son-in-law, Marian Narkawicz, and her siblings Phyllis Viel, Vera Shannon, John Shannon, Barbara Patterson, Shirley Ellis, and Pearl Paterson.

She leaves behind her children, Valerie (Peter) Berger of Galena, Missouri, Brenda Narkawicz of Coventry, Connecticut, Kevin (Jane) LaVigne of Happy Valley, Oregon and Cameron (Michele) LaVigne of Fischer, Texas. Mona, lovingly called Mimi, doted upon her grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Iacobucci, Laura (Enrique) Lima, Rachel (Andrew) Hartman, Jennifer (Andrew) Wilhelmsen, Jessica (Elinor) Howell, Aaron LaVigne, Shannon (Thomas) LaVigne Hill, Cameron (Jacqueline) LaVigne II, PJ Berger, and Daniel Berger. She would light up whenever she was in their presence. Her legacy also includes ten great grandchildren. Mona is also survived by her sister Willa Rickard of Hartland, New Brunswick, multiple nieces and nephews, and Juanita Berger, a dear friend.

Mona was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Vernon, CT, for many years. She was famous for her holiday pies and knitting. She also loved traveling and cherished a trip to England with her husband for their 50th wedding anniversary. Each year she especially looked forward to her ritual trips back home to Canada to visit her siblings and family in Hartland. A devoted wife and homemaker, Mona held many jobs throughout her life, but she valued being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother above all else. She was tenacious in her goals for her family and the guiding hand that forged their path, leading by example with love and kindness. She adored her family, and they in turn adored her and brought her much joy. Small in stature but strong in spirit, she remained a haven for her children and grandchildren as they moved across the country and globe. Whether you called her Mona, Mom, or Mimi wherever she was, she made you feel at home. Her passing is a great loss to her family who deeply feel the absence of her love, laughter and smile. It is a true testament of her life and legacy that we all feel her passing at the age of 92 was simply too soon but take comfort that she is reunited with her husband and loved ones in Heaven.

Committal and burial service will be held on October 6th, 2024, at 3:00, at Saint Bonaventure’s Catholic Church Cemetery, 1941 Route 560, Lakeville, NB, Canada.

1123 Obituary:

Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Brown of Allison Drive, Sussex Corner, NB went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2006 at the age of 89. Born in Gregg Settlement NB on August 5, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Joycie (Gee) Antworth and the beloved wife of the late Wallace (Sr.) Brown who passed away in 1978. Mildred is survived by two daughters, Judy McAllister and her husband Roger of Sussex Corner, Gail Douthwright and her husband Russell of Saint John, her son, Wallace (Wally) Brown Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Urney, her daughter-in-law, Sheila Brown of Sussex Corner, five sisters: Anna Sloat and her husband Paul of Hartland, Margaret Longstaff of Lincoln, Nellie Carmichael and her husband Milford of Williamstown, Alberta Dunkman and her husband Fred of St. Petersburg, Florida, Elaine Love of Ontario, six brothers: Earl Antworth and his wife Glenna of Hartland, Phillip Antworth and his wife Glenna of Centreville, Gilbert Antworth and his wife Carolyn of Cole Stream, Harold Antworth of Centreville, Malcolm Antworth and his wife Carmen of Lakeland, Florida, Kenneth Antworth and his wife Jean of Florenceville, 10 grandchildren: Tammy Brown, Shelley McLong and her husband Troy, Troy McAllister and his wife Wanda, Jason MacCullum and his wife Darlene, Corey McAllister and his wife Andrea, Russell Brown, Candace MacCullum, Katie Brown, Brock McAllister, Morgan Brown, four great grandchildren: Alexa, and Ella McLong, Kayla and Charla McAllister, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her son, Calvin and by her brother Rolston. Mildred was an active member of Calvary Pentecostal Church where she was involved in the Ladies Group and taught Sunday school. She worked with her husband Wallace at Brown's Paving, where she was secretary. She loved to knit, sew, embroider and crochet. She was the oldest of 13 children. Somewhere on the farm, amid the arrival of yet another brother or sister her dreams of normal school were not to become a reality. Her life was consumed with caring for her family and her commitment to her church of which she was a member for 60 years. Someone said "how well she could sew", but she was more than a sewer she was a gifted seamstress. Mildred was a very strong, independent woman, whether by nature or necessity we'll never know. She has a very matter of fact manner but beneath it a very warm and giving heart. She died with the same grace and dignity with which she lived her life. May we gracefully follow in her footsteps. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church, St. George Street, Sussex on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 2:00pm followed the interment at Riverbank Cemetery. 1127 Obituary:

Nancy Hanson
1969-2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Hanson, our angel. She was surrounded by her family when she went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Nancy loved God, her Bible, her family, and her Blue Jay's. Nancy was born October 11, 1969, in Grand Falls, NB and was the daughter of Mary (Baker) Hanson and the late Leonard Hanson. Nancy was also predeceased by 4 brothers in law, Bill Burtt, Keith Williams, Joseph Saulis and David Nye.

She was such an inspiration to everyone that knew her because she looked at life differently than most of us. She loved to plan family dinners, paying attention to every item that was on the menu. She knew everyone's birthday in the entire family, but most important were hers and moms.

Blue was her favorite colour, and she was surrounded by it. She was so excited when Pepsi coloured their pop blue for a short time. It was the little things that brought her joy. Speaking of "joy", that was her favorite word. She diligently went through the pages of her Bible and circled every time she saw ‘J-O-Y’. That's quite an accomplishment, and one that she tasked herself with, taking the job very seriously.

Nancy loved to laugh, and her hugs were amazing. She was the joy the world needed; and still needs today. It will not be the same without her. She will be forever missed.

Special thanks to Heather and Tasha for Nancy's homecare and also Extramural and Upper River Valley Hospital.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Mary, 12 siblings, Claudeen Burtt (Greg Underhill), Norah Saulis, Debra O’Donnell (Robert), Linda Ballentin (Paul Brochu), Robert Hanson (Shelley), Lisa Sherwin (Blair), Susan Nye, Sandra Crawford (Kenneth), Darlene Williams-Perkins (Duane), Paul Hanson (Pattie), Scott Hanson (Patty); chosen brother, Tom Diamond (Dede) as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held from the Juniper United Pentecostal Church on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Everett Munn will officiate. The interment will be in the Knowlesville Cemetery. For those who wish, donations made in Nancy’s memory to Special Olympics Canada would be appreciated.

With appreciation of a life lived in full, the family of Ellen (Helen) Barry announce her peaceful death at home in Grand Bay-Westfield on Saturday, July, 22, 2017. Born on September 11, 1923 in Johnville, Carleton Co., NB. She was eldest daughter of the late Cloud and Gertrude (Pickard) Boyd.

Helen graduated high school in 1941 from St. Mary's Academy. The following year, she was granted a First Class Teacher's License from the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton. Always a teacher, in school or out, she began her first job at eighteen, teaching in a one-room school house in Kiloween, Carleton Co. She taught until 1976 and finished her classroom career as a grade one teacher at Grand Bay Elementary. Her 'little people', as she called her first-graders, grew up in her classes. Many of her pupils never forgot the help and care 'Mrs. Barry' gave to their first year of schooling.

Helen married Ronald Barry on June 30, 1948 in the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Johnville. They began married life in Petersville, Queen's Co., before moving to Grand Bay and raising six children. They were married for over thirty-five years when Ronnie died. She was also predeceased by two sons: Lynn and Louis; her first grandchild: Jennifer MacFarlane; sister: Maddie Logue (Johnny); brothers: Basil Boyd (Teresa); Walter (Sam) Boyd (Betty); and Arnold Boyd (Cecelia).

She is survived by her sons: Boyd and Paul, Grand Bay-Westfield; daughters: Suzanne MacFarlane, Saint John; Jacqueline Butler, Calgary AB; daughter-in-law: Joanne Barry, Quispamsis; grandchildren: Nicholas MacFarlane (Nicola), Caledonia, ON; Matthew Butler and Andrew Butler, Sydney, NS; Emily Butler, Calgary; Shannon Wentworth (Scott), Quispamsis; Jan Barry (Mike Mazerolle); Grand Bay-Westfield; and Shelby Barry, Saint John; great-grandchildren: Loucas and Bodhi Wentworth and Maisie Mazerolle; sisters: Barbara Krochenski (Walter, deceased); Wilhelmina (Billie) Benson (Joe, deceased); Denise Vanderkley (Karl); and Pauline Lavery (Alex); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Helen was a relentless reader. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, cross stitch and refinishing furniture. She was an enthusiast at auctions and, in later years, revelled in deals found and negotiated via Kijiji. Virtually her whole life, she loved singing and dancing.

A devout Catholic, she practiced her faith with thought and grace. Family was her other abiding love. She was a devoted wife, a selfless mother and an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. She filled everyone's bellies with homemade breads, pies and cookies and nourished hearts and minds with learning, love and laughter.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful and caring staff of the Extra-Mural Program, especially Mum's primary nurse, Ralph Johnson RN. To Judy Hickson, PSW, we will always be grateful for the uplifting and compassionate care you provided Mum when she needed it the most.

1935-2024

It is with profound sadness that the children of Orris “Kay” Elizabeth McIntosh mourn her passing. Kay passed on February 10, 2024, at Riverview Manor in Bath, New Brunswick.
Kay was born on July 23, 1935 to Samuel Sprague and Tessa “Chapman” Sprague in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick. Kay married her husband Leslie McIntosh on June 6, 1953 in Wicklow, New Brunswick. Kay and Les made their home in Bath, New Brunswick and went on to have four children, Linda, Karen, Janice and Michael. Kay worked at the Northern Carleton Hospital in Bath, New Brunswick for over 40 years in the Central Supply Room. She was a loving and caring person as was evident in her relationships with family, friends and co-workers throughout the years. She will be remembered by her family for her meticulous attention to cleanliness (even if your drink wasn’t finished your glass could find its way to her kitchen sink), her love of sweets, her love of travel and her love of bears which she didn’t mind getting up close and personal with.

1158 Obituary:

Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our hero, Wayne Rodney Dow, loving husband, dad, grampie and brother. On December 1, 2023, surrounded by his family, Wayne peacefully left our lives much too soon after a courageous battle with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis).

Wayne was born in Bath, NB on October 14, 1959, youngest child of the late Charles and Iva Dow of Beckim Settlement. He was also predeceased by his brother Ray.

Wayne is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life of 43 years Merrietta (Piper), daughter Jennifer (Ryan) Callahan and son Brandon (Victoria) and two special grandchildren Lauren Callahan and Greyson Dow. He is also survived by his siblings Charlene (Craig) Dickinson, Judy (Harold) Lawrence, Merlin (Sharon) , Lynwood (Lisa) , sister in law Debbie (late Ray), brother in law Fred (Valerie) Piper, Aubrey (Kathy) Piper, Gladwyn (Sheila) Piper, sister in law Cheryl (late Gary) Piper, sister in law Joyce Petersen, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In his younger years Wayne loved to play basketball. He loved being outside and enjoyed metal detecting, fishing and partridge hunting. He loved to travel, especially near the water, and his special place was St Andrews. Wayne started his career at Atlantic Wholesalers until the branch closed. He then became office supervisor at DOT Woodstock and retired in 2020 after 32 years.

Wayne’s diagnosis of IPF came in February 2023 but by then he was in the later stages of this terrible disease. Our hope was to get to Toronto for lung transplant but his body could just not make the journey.

We would like to thank Dr. Stone of URV Hospital, Waterville for all his efforts and hard work, the RT’s, Tania Price from Extra Mural and the staff of the ICU, who cared for Wayne in his last days. Thank you Jenn Matthews. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered.

Keeping with Wayne's wishes, cremation will take place. We will visit St Andrews again dear and some of those destinations we planned to see. We love you and miss you.

Visitation will be at the Carleton Funeral home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 12PM to 1:45 PM, Service will directly follow in the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s honor can be made to NB Lung or an organization of the donor’s choice.

Interment will be at the Bloomfield United Church Cemetery at a later date.

Marie is survived by her husband Cecil of 68 years. Her children Sharon Griffin (Gary), Eleanor Kelly (Tom), Doug (Shawna), and Pamela. Grandchildren Kim, Charles, Melissa, Carrie and Andrew. Step grandchildren Mitchell MacMillan, Melissa MacMillian. Great grandchildren Corbin, Colby, Hudson, Easton, Landon and Keaton.

Besides her parents Marie was predeceased by a daughter Joyce and son Raymond. Sisters Kay Morris, Audrey Young, Donna Demerchant. Brothers John, Howard, Doug and Infants Vincent and Roy.

Mom had a big heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She loved to garden and preserve what mother nature provided and she shared her goodies with everyone. Her only request was return the bottle if you can. Mom loved to clean, and her house was always neat and tidy. If there is any cleaning in heaven God chose wisely. She was a no-frills lady who loved the simple pleasures of life and had a special love for animals. If a stray came along, it quickly became part of the family, and we all loved her for that. Mom this isn’t goodbye. It is see ya until we meet again.

A special thank you to Dr. Perley, Extra Mural and Ann Estey mom’s homecare worker) we could never have kept Mom at home without your love and support.

There will be no public visitation or funeral service, interment will be at St Paul’s Cemetery at a later date.

If so desired, donations can be made to the NB Extra Mural program, Upper River Valley Cancer Support Group or Carleton County Animal Shelter.

Arrangements are entrusted to Carleton Funeral home Jacksonville.

Our Mother, Glenna Elevia (Sprague) Curtis made her grand entrance into heaven on Saturday, November 14th , 2020, in her 97th year, at the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre, Ottawa. Our Mom, leaves behind her three children; her daughter Gayle Johnston (late James) Ottawa, her son Gary Curtis (Muriel) Peterborough and her daughter Cheryl Marshall (Dale) Prescott. It truly didn't matter to her if you were actually related or not, once she adopted you into her heart you were hers and she added you to her prayer list. She had a beautiful heart for people, a wonderful prayer life and she loved her hymns. Her sisters Kay McIntosh (late Leslie), Shirley Buckingham (Kerri) and many loved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her infant son, Russell Gary Curtis, her parents, Samuel and Tessa (nee Chapman) Sprague, her sister Joyce Sprague, her brother Coral Sprague, infant brother Malcolm, her niece Linda Gaunce ,her sisters- in- law, Eloise, Phoebe, Frances, Leora and Lillian as well as several best friends.

Our Mom served in the Second World War with the CWAC in an Administration unit in St. John, New Brunswick and was very honoured to have done so. She took such pride in her service to her country.
Mom was a wonderful story teller, some of our favourite memories are of being curled up beside her listening to her regaling us with stories from her childhood and life along the Tobique River in New Brunswick where she grew up.

Being a single Mom she held many jobs in her life trying to provide for her family.
She had a true Momma's heart loving and caring for her children to the very best of her ability. She also loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with her whole heart and prayed for them daily.

1177 Obituary:

PERHAM - Phyllis Barton Blackstone, 93, of Perham, Maine went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2020, while at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, Maine.

Phyllis was born in Houlton on September 8, 1926 to Roy A. Barton, Sr. and Maude (Anderson) Barton. She graduated from Bob Jones College (now Bob Jones University) in 1947. Phyllis and her five siblings all were proud to graduate from Bob Jones College/University. She taught school in Limestone and Washburn, Maine before marrying Wendell E. Blackstone in 1949. Wendell and Phyllis worked together on the family dairy and potato farm for more than 60 years. She was an expert seed-cutter, truck driver during harvest, and bookkeeper for the farm in alternating years with her sister, Joyce. After her five children were raised and on their own, she went back to school and earned a CNA degree using her new skills to work at the Caribou Nursing Home and Cary Medical Center as a ward secretary. She was a blessing to her patients and an encourager to her co-workers. Phyllis had a loving heart for people.

She was a faithful, long-time member of the Perham Baptist Church and served the Lord singing in the choir, playing the organ, and supporting her church family. Proverbs 3:5-6 were her life verses. She finished her life as she lived it - trusting in the Lord and being directed by Him.

Phyllis loved her family. Her life revolved around family gatherings, especially Christmas celebrations, which included her famous Blackstone Special, and the annual 4th of July Barton celebration at the lake, and family accomplishments. She was very proud of her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Even as she grew older, she kept in touch on Facebook with her inspirational messages, her iPad, and FaceTime. She was a texting Gram extraordinaire. Her use of technology was impressive and her card making abilities were amazing.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, husband Wendell E. Blackstone, grandson Scott Blackstone, daughter-in-law Coleen Blackstone, brother Sherwood Barton and his wife Doris, brothers-in-law Paul Blackstone and Clayton Blackstone, Sr.

She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Blackstone Fox and husband Larry and Lori (Blackstone) Bouchard and husband Darrell, three sons Rev. Barry Blackstone, Jay Blackstone and wife Tamisue, and Michael Blackstone and wife Julie. She has nine much loved grandchildren: Brad Fox, Elliot Fox and girlfriend Kristen Gamboa, Marnie (Blackstone) Legaspi and husband Josue, Krysten Blackstone, Brennan Blackstone and girlfriend Sarah Morneault, Justen Blackstone and wife Olivia, Alyssa (Blackstone) Weldon and husband Brandon, Michaela Blackstone, and precious great-grandchildren Brynna and Connor Fox and Judah and Elena Legaspi. Phyllis is also survived by her three sisters Joyce (Barton) Blackstone, Gloria (Barton) Dinsmore and husband George, and Betty (Barton) Tompkins and husband Wendell, and one brother Roy A. Barton, Jr. and wife Joyce.

Phyllis’s family would like to thank the administration and staff at Leisure Village, especially THE GIRLS, for their loving care and concern for our mother. Also, our sincere thanks for the expert advice and assistance we received from those at the Aroostook House of Comfort.

Calling hours will be held at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street in Presque Isle on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 6-9 p.m. with limited entance capacity and using social distancing practices. Thank you for wearing face masks during the visitation. Friends and family who are unable to come during this difficult time are encouraged to reach out to the family directly or express condolences on our Tribute Wall at www.duncan-graves.com

Donations may be made in her memory to the Perham Baptist Church in care of Robert Solomita, Treasurer, 1060 East Presque Isle Road, Caribou, Maine 04736. Memorial service information will be posted at a later date.

He was a faithful, long-time member of the Perham Baptist Church where he served the Lord in many capacities including president, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. In Perham town government, he was on the Board of Selectmen for many years and represented Perham on the School Board before there was a school district. Friends and neighbors in Perham will well remember that Wendell might have been the first one to welcome them to town and to visit them through the years. He enjoyed stopping in to visit his new friends and neighbors; it was important to him and showed the care and concern he had for others. Wendell was an avid fisherman and hunter. Some of his most enjoyable moments were spent on Beaver Brook and fishing at the Dead Water. However, the joy of serving his God, family, and friends was the most important. He was married to the love of his life, Phyllis, for almost 68 years. His five children, Sylvia, Barry, Lori, Jay and Michael, were so loved and are able to say, "(His) children arise up, and call (him) blessed." Prov. 31:28. Wendell is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Barton) Blackstone; two daughters, Sylvia Fox and her husband, Larry of Presque Isle and Lori Bouchard and her husband, Darrell of Washburn; three sons, Rev. Barry Blackstone and his wife, Coleen of Ellsworth, Jay Blackstone and his wife, Tamisue of Presque Isle, and Michael Blackstone and his wife, Julie of Downingtown, PA. He has nine, much loved grandchildren: Brad Fox and his wife, Sue, Elliot Fox and his girlfriend, Kristen, Scott Blackstone, Marnie Blackstone Legaspi and her husband, Josué, Krysten and Brennan Blackstone, Justen Blackstone and his wife, Olivia, Alyssa and Michaela Blackstone, and precious great-grandchildren, Brynna and Connor Fox, and Judah Legaspi. He was predeceased by his father, Carroll; mother, Glenna; and brother, Paul Blackstone. Calling hours will be held at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street in Presque Isle on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. with the funeral to be held at the Perham Baptist Church on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3 p.m. with Reverends Barry Blackstone and David Goupille officiating. Donations may be made in his memory to the Perham Baptist Church in care of Robert Solomita, Treasurer, 1060 East Presque Isle Road, Caribou, Maine 04736. Spring interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Perham.

He is also survived by his mother, Sadie Crabbe, his daughter Angie Crabbe, brother Donald Crabbe, and his cherished grandchildren Caleb Gilbert, Indira Trowsdale, Tiana Trowsdale, and Jemma Trowsdale, nephew Ben, niece Spring, son-in-law Stephen (Grace) Trowsdale, brothers-in-law Jamie (Teresa) Chase, John (Barbie) Chase, Michael (Karen) Chase, and sisters-in-law Rhonda (Alan) Poynton, Patti Chase, Connie Chase, and Robyn Chase.

Raymond was preceded in death by his daughter, Catina Trowsdale, and his father, Deane Crabbe, parents-in-law Paul and Claudia Chase, brothers-in-law David Chase and Robert Chase, and sister-in-law Carol Chase.

Raymond's journey began and unfolded in the town of Bristol, New Brunswick. From his earliest days, he was happiest when in the woods, fishing hunting or trapping.

It was in Bristol that he found a profound and enduring love story with his cherished wife, Paulette. Their union was a testament to the power of love, loyalty, and faith.

Throughout his life, Raymond demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his faith, tirelessly spreading the message of God's love and salvation. His dedication to God was demonstrated daily. He started every morning on his knees in prayer. He had a unrelenting burden for people’s souls. Raymond's faith was not merely a part of his life; it was the guiding force that shaped his existence.

Raymond spent his life, along with his father and brother building the family business, Crabbe Lumber. His work ethic is unsurpassed. He loved work. He did not consider it work...'it's who I am'. Attested to by the fact that very few were able to keep up to his relentless drive to get the job done.

Beyond the business, Raymond's true passion lay in people, caring for his employees, many of whom affectionately referred to him as 'Dad.' His compassion knew no bounds, and his generosity touched the lives of countless individuals.

Raymond wasn't just a man of business; he was a man of the outdoors. When he wasn't busy with the mill, you could find him out in the woods, hunting, guiding, or most often, fishing. There wasn't a fishing spot too remote or too small that he wouldn't explore. From the wilds of Alaska to the shores of Newfoundland, he chased after the perfect catch with a passion that never waned.

Raymond's adventures weren't limited to North America. He found fulfillment in serving others, especially on mission trips to South America. Building schools and delivering radios in the remote mountains was where he truly felt comfortable, making a real difference in people's lives.

Many of his happiest times were spent with his family. Whether they were fishing, riding ATVs, paddling canoes, or just enjoying a cookout, Raymond cherished those moments. He was Papa or Grampy to his grandchildren, always ready to share his love for the outdoors and create lasting memories.

Raymond's kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. Though he may have departed from this earth, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created. In the embrace of his loved ones and in the comforting whispers of cherished memories, Raymond's presence will endure, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved.

Raymond's life was about embracing every adventure and spreading the gospel and kindness wherever he went. As we remember him, let's hold onto the spirit of adventure and generosity that defined his life. Take solace in the knowledge that he now rests in eternal peace with his heavenly father, reunited with loved ones who preceded him. May his memory be a blessing and may his legacy of love and faith continue to inspire.

1199 Obituary:

REELEDER, Lewis
Posted Mar 24, 2006 12:00 AM
Peacefully at home on Friday, March 17, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Doris Mae (nee Sheepwash) and father of the late Carolyn Reid. He leaves behind his loving children David, Lois, George and Robert and four grandsons - Cory, Justin, Justin John Paul and Brady, all of whom will miss him dearly. Lewis was born on Aug. 22, 1927 in West Glassville, New Brunswick, the sixth child of George Reeleder and Sara DeLong. He is survived by brothers Ronald, Delmar and Lorne and sisters Bernice, Margaret, Wilnora and Betty. He is predeceased by sister Glenna and brothers Aubrey, Adrian and Floyd. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Lew left the family farm in 1943 and received his technical diploma in the then new world of communication and following graduation joined the merchant navy. After four years on the seas he was thrilled to join the commercial aviation world as a radio operator for TCA, later to become Air Canada. He transferred to North Bay with his young family in 1952, and moved to his present home on Tower Drive, shortly thereafter. As a Station Agent in the small North Bay operation he was very familiar to the travelling public till his retirement in 1986.

Active in Widdifield township politics he also served as a public school trustee and in addition did volunteer with the Kinsmen Club, becoming their President in 1962-63. After retirement he did volunteer work with the heritage railway, but his real passion was the outdoors: fishing, tramping in the bush, observing birds and wildlife, and working in his woodlot, cutting all his firewood and in the spring producing prodigious amounts of maple syrup at his sugar shack.

He much enjoyed the company of his close circle of friends. He will be missed by all his friends and wonderful neighbours. At his request there was no service and interment will be done in early summer. A celebration of his life for all his friends will be held this Friday, March 24 from 1500-1800 hours at the Jr. Ranks Mess at CFB Hornell Heights, 17 Duxbridge.
