    Earle Blair Avery, 86, of Route 165 Woodstock, NB, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at The Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Blair was born in Woodstock, NB on June 19, 1924, son of the late Earle and Elizabeth (Kinney) Avery.
    Blair is survived by his wife Leona (Harley) Avery, Woodstock, NB, daughter, Lynn Avery, Halifax, NS, son, Stephen (Debbie), Halifax, NS, grandson, Rob, great granddaughter, Debra, brother, Robert, Woodstock, NB.
    Besides his parents, Blair was predeceased by a son, James.
    Visitation will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville on Friday, May 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 and 7 to 9. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 14 from The Carleton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM. Interment will be in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ANAVETS Woodstock or to a memorial of the donor’s choice.

    Leona Marie "Harley" Avery, 90, of Woodstock NB passed away peacefully with Steve and Lynn by her side on Tuesday, October 05, 2021 at the Upper River Valley Hospital Waterville NB. Leona was born in Woodstock, NB on February 20, 1931, daughter of the late Bentley G. and Velma F. (McBride) Harley.
    Leona is survived by her son Stephen (Debbie) Avery, daughter Lynn Avery, grandson Rob Avery and grand daughter Debra and several nephews and nieces.
    Besides her parents, Leona was predeceased by her son Jimmy, husband, Blair, sister, Marion Harley, brothers, Harold Harley, Sister Lillian Clark, Brother Ralph Harley.
    As a young girl, Leona and her Mom delivered mail by horse and wagon, only to upgrade to using one of the first Ford cars.
    Leona and Blair owned and operated the Cozy Cabins Motel, side by side, until their retirement in 1973.
    Leona was an avid hunter, best known as "Leona, Bullseye Avery".
    Leona was a respected antique dealer, specializing in glass and china.
    Her hobbies included bowling, in which she excelled in the ladies league, card player, an avid bird watcher/feeder/counter in Carleton County and enjoyed watching hockey, baseball and curling.
    Steve and Lynn wish to express special thanks to Denise Gray and her nursing staff for their attention and affection to their Mom.

    Visitation will be held at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville NB on Thursday October 7, 2021.
    Funeral service will be held on Friday October 8, 2021, at the Funeral Home Chapel at 1Pm, interment to follow at Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
    Covid19 Restriction Apply, Proof of both vaccinations, ID and Masks are required to enter Funeral Home for visitation and funeral service, Also Masks are requested to be worn at cemetery.

    The Observer (Hartland, N.B.), 01 Nov 1973, p. 11, The Years Gone By, reprinted from The Observer, 03 Nov 1949: The death of Arthur K. Avery occured on Oct. 25 at his home in Knolesville. He was 90 years of age and the son of the late John & Julia (Dickinson) Avery. Born in Corn Hill, Kings Co., he came to Knowlesville at the age of 4. On Oct. 8, 1888, he married Alice Day at Gull River, Minn., who predeceased him four years ago. He is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters; Cecil of N.Y., Earl of Foxboro, Mass., Alton of Knowlesville, King at home, Mrs. Clarence Manual, (Hester) of Knowlesville, Mrs. Walter Clyde (Jennie), N.Y., Mrs. Maddock McGinn (Lillie) of N.Y.; also one sister, Mrs. James Linney of Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

    Arthur married Alice Ada DAY.     Knowlesville Loses Well Known Lady
    Mrs. Arthur K. Avery, 80 Had Lived in Community 56 Years
    Many will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Arthur K. Avery of Knowlesville, Carleton County, on January 24, 1946. Mrs. Avery, nee Alice Ada Day, was born in Chipman, N.B. on April 25, 1866. She moved with her family to Gull River, Minnesota in 1881, was married there in 1888 and in 1890 moved to Knowlesville, where she resided until her recent death. In this time she has become widely known and respected in the community, having taken an active part in community and church work. She was a member of the United Church of Canada. The funeral, at the Knowlesville Church, and conducted by the Rev. William C. Amey, was well attended. The hymns sung were "Sunrise", a solo by Lorne Britton, "Good Night and Good Morning", "Rock of Ages", and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye", by the quartette consisting of Lorne Britton and son, Thomas Patrick and Richard Bramley. The organist was Mrs. Claude Manuel. Pallbearers were grandsons; Robert Avery, Blair Avery, John Avery, Ronald Avery, Garnet Manuel and Gerald Manuel. Her passing leaves to mourn her husband, Arthur K. Avery; four sons, King, at home; Alton in Knowlesville; Cecil, New York; and Earle, Woodstock; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Manuel, Knowlesville; Mrs. Walter Clyde, Burnt Land Brook, N.B.; and Mrs. M. McGinn, New York; twenty-two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Cobb and Mrs. Mark DeLong of Vallejo, Calif.; and two brothers, Bedford and Chipman Day of San Francisco. There were many beautiful floral tributes. Interment was in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
