Dennis Hazen Oakes passed away at his home in Bath on Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was born August 20, 1922 and was the son of the late Samuel and Bessie Oakes. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Oakes; son-in-law, Frank McDougall; siblings, Jardine Oakes, Samuel Oakes Jr., Maxine (Lucuis) Broad, Mary (Duncan) Crain, and Dean McDougall.

Dennis is survived by his children; Marion McDougall of Peterborough, ON, Dale "Hud" Oakes of Bath, NB, Cynthia (Earl) McGuigan of Upper Kent, NB, Beverly (Ross) Billings of Centreville, NB; 14 grandchildren, Todd (Penny) McDougall, Tammy (Peter) Gignac, Troy (Brenda) McDougall, Chris Oakes, Cory (Melissa) Oakes, Craig Oakes, Mikayla Steeves Oakes, Michelle (Nathan) Chase, Kara McGuigan-Alward, Lisa (Darren) McLaughlin, Nicole (Chance) Clark, Ashley (Dustin) Clark, Shannon (Ryan) Crain, Brittany Billings; 20 great grandchildren, Autumn McDougall, Brandon McDougall, Tamara Gignac, Baylee McDougall, Cameron Zilinski-Oakes, Jovie Oakes, Tobias Oakes, Hunter Oakes, Isaiah Oakes, Rankin Oakes, Abagail Oakes, Dexter Oakes, Kadence Chase, Keleigh Chase, Kamden Chase, Carter McGuigan-Oakes, Casin McLaughlin, Madison Clark, Alivia Clark, John Crain; brother Graydon (Rose) Oakes; sisters-in-law, Linda McDougall, Marie Emphy; nieces and nephews; special support worker Wilma "Erma" O'Donnell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at L. R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Carl DeMerchant officiating. Interment will be held in the Wharton Cemetery.
