From "The Chat" of Mar. 22,-1907 Thanks to Mrs. Fred Nevers, Coldstream GLASSVILLE - The people of Glassville and surround- ing districts feel that they have sustained a severe loss in the death of our old friend E.D. Martin which took place at his home on the 15th inst., after a few days ill- ness, having always enjoyed perfect health up to this time. The deceased was a native of Glasgow, Scotland and came to this place when but a young man; amongst the first settlers and having always lived here, was well and favorably known in this place. He leaves many friends. Mr. Martin was about 78 years old and leaves two sons, besides other relatives, to mourn their loss. He was postmast- er of Rutherglen for many years and was in that vicin- ity up to the time of his demise. The funeral took place Monday. Rev. J.H. Anderson officiating. "Farewell dear father, sweet thy rest, Weary with years and worn with pain; Farewell till in some happy place We shall behold thy face again".
