      Stephen DeMerchant
      1927-2016

      Stephen DeMerchant of Perth-Andover passed away peacefully at the Grand Falls General Hospital on April 22, 2016.
      Stephen was born in Lerwick, NB on February 17, 1927. He was the son of the late Perry and Priscilla (Downing) DeMerchant. Stephen leaves behind his loving wife Shirley DeMerchant (Hammond); his sons William DeMerchant (Sandra) of Fredericton, Robert DeMerchant of Perth-Andover; five grandchildren and one great grandson; his brother Stewart DeMerchant (Roberta) of Perth-Andover; along with many nieces and nephews.
      He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Marguerite Johnston; his brothers George, Bernard, Jack, and Leo DeMerchant.
      Stephen was a well known potato farmer in the area. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church for numerous years. He was a loving husband and father, and a great friend to all who know him.
      Resting at Brunswick Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 2 pm from the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church. Rev. Reg Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Larlee Creek Cemetery.
      For those who wish, memorial donations to the CNIB or to Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated by the family.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
