      Sandra L. Hart
      1948-2017

      It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Sandra Lee Hart, announce her peaceful passing at her home in Island View NB on August 23rd,2017. Our much beloved wife, mother and grandmother “Grammie Hart” was born on November 13th, 1948, the daughter of Morley and Eva Oakes. She was a genuine sincere “Woman of Wisdom” whose common sense approach to life endeared her to so many. Sandra was known for her fun loving attitude, great smile, kind heart, honesty, loyalty and quiet dignity.
      Sandra was born in Riley Brook, NB. Her family moved to the Bath area on Feb. 16, 1955. A long-haired, brown-eyed beauty, she graduated from Bath Regional High School with a high school diploma as well as a Class “M” N.B. Basketball Championship. She successfully completed the two-year teacher training program at Teacher’s College in Fredericton, NB. In 1969 she married Eric Hart and together the new couple moved to Labrador City, NL., where they set up home for the next 31 years. Sandra dedicated herself to raising her two children, Eric and Thais, while at the same time providing unconditional support to her husband’s career aspirations. She, being a true introvert, never sought the spotlight, preferring to stay behind the scenes, working her heart and soul, for others to achieve success. She was very proud that she worked as a school volunteer at A.P. Low School for 19 years with the same teacher, Daphne Parsons.
      Sandra was renowned for her ability to prepare a fully-cooked meal in a matter of minutes. Her personal recipe book and her cast iron frying pans were always close at hand. Always remembered will be her “Black Forest Cake”, “Scandinavian Apple Cake”, “Strawberry Salad” and “Friday Night Homemade Pizza”. In addition to cooking she loved to scrub, clean and organize a room or closet and her results were of a professional calibre.
      Sandra was a gifted crafter whose work was meticulous and appealing. Her talents included; Knitting, Sewing, Rug Hooking, Quilling, Labrador Coat Design, Doll Making, Quilting, Needlepoint, Cake Decorating and Stained Glass. Her standards were high and her work was admired and enjoyed by many. Sandra had an uncanny knack for fixing and repairing everyday household items and family and friends were often found seeking her expertise. Sandra loved to dance and she was so smooth and sleek executing her dance moves. She so enjoyed dancing “Thriller” in her flowing white gown and as well enjoyed her favorite dances, “Whiskey Wiggle” (Couples) and “Crazy Legs” (Line). During 1997 she helped restore her father’s sugar bush and then worked the sugar seasons from 1997 to 2013. It was no secret that she could outwork any two men in the sugar business. The peace and quiet of the sugar woods was her favorite part of making maple syrup.

      A LIFE WELL LIVED BUT MUCH TOO SHORT.

      Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Eric, her son John Eric (Teri), Barrie ,Ont.; daughter Thais (Dan), Hanwell, NB.; grandchildren Brigham, Rowan, Georgia and Sayre, Barrie, Ont; and Addison and Evan, Hanwell, NB;
      Siblings Avis Doherty (Allen), Debbie Gee (Terry), Mike Oakes (Nancy), Jennifer Polochois ( Chris), Troy Oakes (Karen) and Sterling Oakes. She also leaves behind two special family friends Tammy Atkins and Finley (Finn).
      Sandra is predeceased by her mother Eva, father Morley and brother Brian Oakes.
