    • Obituary:

      Katharine-Mae Drost
      1983-2025

Katharine-Mae Drost, of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2025, at the age of 42. Born on January 13, 1983, in Dalhousie, New Brunswick, she brought joy, energy, and excitement to all who knew her.

Kathie-Mae was a force of nature: unapologetically bold, creative, and vibrant. She was known for colouring outside the lines and living life on her own terms. Ever-dreaming and ever-daring, she walked many paths, evolving through countless roles and phases. No matter where or when you met her, she was fun-loving, compassionate, and fiercely free-spirited.

She is survived by her soulmate, Jun Wakabayashi, who stood beside her through every high and low. Somehow, being both total opposites and perfect reflections of each other, they formed a uniquely rare whole. Together, they shared a life overflowing with love and adventure. In their later summers, they let the weather guide their open schedule, chasing sunsets on beaches where Kath loved to bask in the water and soak up every ray of sunlight. In winter, they often escaped to explore distant shores in search of the perfect beach. They shared a love for music, dancing under concert lights and starlit skies. As a star child, Kath naturally stood out wherever she went, but at music festivals, she felt at home, surrounded by others who were often like-minded and just as boldly, expressively dressed. Together, they also enjoyed relaxing at home, where Kath now leaves behind her beloved kitty, Snowii, lovingly entrusted with watching over Jun in her absence.

K-Mae missed those who predeceased her deeply: her loving mother, Katharine Smith, her dear brother, Quentin Drost, and her cherished animal companions, Queenie, Koko, Chopper, and Tank. Their passing strengthened her drive to take every opportunity to spend time with loved ones.

She is lovingly remembered by her father, Mancel Drost (Sharon), and siblings Leslie (Doris), James (Yvan 2022), Patrick (Cheryl), Denis (Lisa), Meredith (Brian), and stepbrothers Joshua (Michelle) and Johnathan (Allison). Auntie K-Mae will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews, including her best friend, Ella. She never outgrew being the baby girl of the family, carrying forward the values they instilled in her: a strong moral compass, a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, and love and laughter at the heart of it all.

Later in life, her vocations grew from her passions and never took too much from her time. She found joy and purpose as a professional animal sitter, earning "Star Sitter" status. She had a natural gift for understanding animals and giving them what they needed most genuine love. In her own words: “All these dogs love staying with me because they know I love them so much.” To many online, she was known as Raven Raver, a vibrant and fearless presence who inspired others by embracing her uniqueness. She gained recognition not by conforming, but by being true to herself and encouraging others to do the same. Katharine reached a place in life filled with love, leisure, and abundance by dreaming big, questioning the status quo, believing in herself, and listening to what felt right. She lived with intention, passion, and authenticity.

As we say goodbye, let’s raise a glass in her honour and celebrate the joy, mischief, and warmth she brought into our lives. Her spirit lives on in the memories we hold, the laughter she sparked, and the inspiration she gave to live more fully. The more we let those memories guide us, the more she lives through us.

Rest in peace, Kathie-Mae. You are already deeply missed.

“Come, fairies, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame!” - William Butler Yeats

A Graveside Service will be held on August 4, 2025 at 1:30 pm in the Victoria Corner Cemetery, Victoria Corner, NB.
