  Obituary: The death of Douglas “Doug” Wayne Oakes of Holmesville occurred on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at his home. Born January 2, 1947 in Bath he was the son of Graydon and Rose (DeMerchant) Oakes and husband of Mary (Cullins) Oakes. Doug is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary; parents, Graydon and Rose Oakes; three children, Lorelei Ritchie (Eric), Todd Oakes and Amy Oakes (Bradley Moore); six grandchildren, Cole, Drew and Kate Ritchie, Jared, Veronica and Corrine Moore; siblings, Samuel Oakes (Marion), Sandra Oakes, Joanne Guest (Fred), Billy Oakes (Laurie) and Jeff Oakes (Robyn) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Ellery Oakes. Visitation will be held from the Holmesville Free Will Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 15th, 2010 at 1:00 pm from the Holmesville Church with Rev. Rick Murray officiating. Interment will be in the Mineral Cemetery. For those who wish donations made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Martin Kilfoil Fund would be appreciated. L.R.
