Earle (Earl) Leigh McBrine
1948 - 2009
The passing of Earle “Earl” Leigh McBrine of Hanwell NB occurred on Saturday, August 1st 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at the age of 61 years. Born in East Glassville, N B, he was a son of the late Archibald Lee & Ellen Marguerite (Cammack) McBrine. He was an active member of Holy Family Parish Catholic Church.
Earl was a plumber and pipe fitter by trade but worked in the woods and drove heavy equipment in his younger days. He was an exceptional cook; did woodworking, oil painting and loved working outdoors especially in his vegetable garden. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and served in several offices including Grand Knight of 3rd Degree Council 1942, Faithful Navigator of 4th Degree Assembly 620 and on State Council as District Deputy. He served on the Executive Committee of Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 and was a Past Chairperson of the CNIB Advisory Board.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Cynthia M (Derrah) McBrine, son; Michael E. (Bettie) of Fredericton, daughter, Angela M Hansen (Denis) of Grand Prairie Alberta; “Poppy” to his four grandsons: Phillip and Alexander McBrine, and twins Riley and Logan Hansen; brothers: Francis McBrine (Monica) of Glassville, NB. and Stewart McBrine (Tammy) of Glassville NB; sisters: Betty Ann Rowley of Glassville NB, Erma Cheney (Paul) of Gordonsville, NB, Gaynell Henley, from Bigger Ridge NB, Janice Harrington (Evan) of Knowlesville NB, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grandnephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Gerald McBrine and brothers-in-law, Walter Rowley and Ralph Henley.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will take place on Sunday August 2nd from 7-9 PM and on Monday August 3rd from 2-4, and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 4th at 2 PM from the Holy Family Parish Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, Fredericton with Rev. Mark Trzop officiating. Following cremation, interment will take place at a later date in the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanwell Road.
