Notes - John Young, born in Kilmarnock, Scotland Feb 22, 1826, arrived in Glassville abt. August 22nd 1862, boarding with the John Millie family. About 1864 John purchased the adjoining farm, Lot. 40, Range 2 (see Southern Settlement Map) where he built a house and barns. In 1864, John met Matilda Pender of Petersville, Queens County when she came to visit her sister Jane, Mrs. Hugh Miller. John and Matilda married 8 December 1868 in the log home of Hugh and Jane Miller. John and Matilda had two children Maggie Isabella (who married David Henry Lamont) and John A. (9 November 1872 - 9 November 1947), who never married.
John Young died in Glassville November 5th 1910.
