  • Notes
    • "The first church has been built and is being used and a new cemetery
acquired. There have been deaths in the community. The first to die was John
Mcintosh, in 1866. He left a young widow and two small boys. He was only 45
years of age. He was buried on his homestead pending the establishing of a
cemetery. He was reinterred in the GlassviUe Cemetery in 1926. John Ritchie
was the first to be interred in the new cemetery in February 1868. He was 31
years of age and left a young wife. The next young man to succumb was
Thomas Allan who died in April 1873 leaving a young wife and small children"
A History of the Glassville Settlement, page 12

Thomas brought his young wife, Elizabeth, with him. They
may have been married shortly before leaving Scotland. The two brothers were
located on adjoining lots, #63 and #65, between Hector Mcintosh and Edward
      Martin.

Thomas Allan remained on the homestead, clearing land and "making a farm". Four children were born, two sons and two daughters. Thomas Allan died
in 1873. The youngest daughter was given the name Thomasina, generally shortened to Ina. She may have been born after her father died.
William Curry, born in Ireland, settled in GlassviUe on Lot 54, Range 2.
His first wife, Agnes, was born in Scotland. Eight children were born of this
union. Agnes Curry died in 1887, when her youngest child was nine years old.
At this time, Eliza Allan, still a widow and still living on the lot granted to Thomas
Allan (#65), was ready to take on new responsibilities. Eliza Allan and William
      Curry were married about 1888.
