    • Obituary:

With great sadness, the passing of Vernon Ketch occurred November 11, 2013 at his daughter’s home, Carlisle Road, Douglas, after a period of failing health. He was 82; born February 8, 1931 in Bristol, NB. Dad is survived by his four daughters: Pam Hargrove, Jill Cote (Roland) Quebec, Duska Slipp (Andy), and Tanya Arseneau (Ray); grandchildren: Scott Hargrove, Mark Hargrove, Jessica Borland, Samantha and Brock Slipp, Brandon and Malcolm Arseneau; great-grandchildren: Raeanna, Abigail, Parker and Scarlet; sisters and brothers Cheryl McNally (Boyd), Judy Pickett (Peter), Terry Pickard, Winston Aird, and nieces and nephews. Dad is also survived by Shirley (Watters) Ketch, mother of their children. In 1948 Dad graduated, second in his class, from Aroostook High School. Dad worked 33 years for NBTel, retiring in 1991. In the early years, Dad loved to play golf, swim, fishing in Juniper, cook, play pool and cribbage. He was an excellent dancer and he and Mom were beautiful to watch. Dad was predeceased by his parents, a brother and two nephews. Special thank you to Dr. Willie Broeren and Extra-Mural Palliative Care. In keeping with Dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. There will be a funeral service on Friday, November 15, 2013, at 11 am at York Funeral Home 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, with Pastor Peter Moore officiating. A Reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room. Interment will take place at a later date at the Glassville Cemetery. The family has suggested donations be made to the Fredericton S.P.C.A., the Canadian Diabetic Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
