913 Obituary:

Scovil Raymond Lee was born in his parents home at the foot of the east hill in Beaufort, NB, to the late Joseph and Alice (Searles) Lee on March 20, 1927. On Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the age of ninety, he died at home in Juniper, NB, only a few miles from where he was born. During his life, however, he traveled widely throughout Canada and the USA, visiting historic landmarks, national parks, and museums where anyone who happened to engage him in conversation might be surprised to discover that the unimposing gentleman next to them knew more about the history and points of interest of each attraction than either the guides or the guidebooks.

Although his mother was a schoolteacher, Scovil definitely did not like going to school and, one day when he was only 12 years old, he dug in his heels and flatly refused to go. Instead, he followed his father to the woods he loved, and began the career as a woodsman that lasted throughout his life. His dislike of going to school did not reflect any dislike of education. He thought other people, particularly his younger brother Joey, should most definitely go to school, and his persistent and sometimes coercive efforts to that end resulted in Joey's graduation from high school.
Scovil enlisted in the army during WWII and was sent to Trenton, Ontario for basic training, but before he could be shipped overseas, the war ended and he was shipped back to Beaufort, instead, and there he stayed. There, he and his cousin Earl began a business partnership which would grow and flourish for many years. He was well read, articulate and sharply intelligent, had a fine memory for detail and was an excellent businessman.

But he will be remembered by his family for his playfulness, his off-beat sense of humour, his delight at all things ridiculous, his love for his dogs, his silly laugh. He will be remembered as the one who showed up on Christmas eve with outrageous gifts for young nephews and neices, the one who took carloads of kids to the dairy bar and let them order whatever they wanted, who arrived on Friday nights with icecream and let us have all we could eat, the one who gathered us up and took us for long rambling drives through the woods he loved so much... the one who never fished because he wouldn't even kill a worm.
Scovil is survived by 1 sister, Patricia Glass; 1 brother, Joseph Lee (Marie); 7 nieces and nephews, Wanda MacFarlane, Blair Glass, Joan Tremblay, Robert Glass, Joseph Lee, Billy Lee and Christopher Lee as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 12-2pm. A funeral service will follow at 2pm from the L.R. Giberson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Lownds will officiate. The interment will be in Christ Anglican Cemetery, Glassville at a later date. Donations made to Christ Anglican Cemetery or DunRoamin would be appreciated. wwwgibersonfuneraldirectors.ca (506) 392-1115

Don was born to Donald Sr and Bessie Wolverton (Giberson) on August 6th, 1942 in Chatham, New Brunswick. Their love story included building a campground in Hamilton, Ontario, raising four children on Wolverton Mountain who adore them and living the snowbird lifestyle in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Don was a hard worker who loved a project around the farm and in his leisure time he loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was the President of the New Brunswick Trout Farmers Association for many years and a constant advocate of stocking public waterways in the province. He served as the President of the Florenceville Garden Club for years. Don was always happiest when hosting friends and family in Tracey Mills or Florida, sharing fine donuts, a good story and plenty of laughter. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

942 Obituary:

The death of Anna Kathleen “Kaye” Foster occurred on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Upper River Valley Hospital. Born September 4, 1930, in Knowlesville, NB, Kaye was the daughter of the late Ira and Nellie (Brown) Corey. In addition to her parents, Kaye was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Foster; their infant daughter, Melanie; and eleven siblings, Erma, Murray, Wilfred, Robert, Alice, Norman, Tom, Claude, Warren, Keith, and Gordon.

Kaye is survived by her three sons, Geoffrey, Kris (Wanda), and Stuart (Trish); five grandchildren, Erin Blaney (Corey), Meredith Graham (Nathaniel), Kate, Cameron (Andrea), and Elizabeth; and two great-grandsons, Kian and Quin Blaney. Kaye is also survived by her brother, Rev. Judson Corey, and sister, Shirley Brooks (Rev. Paul), as well as numerous nieces, nephew, and extended family.

Kaye was born and raised in Knowlesville until the family moved to Juniper in 1945, when Kaye was fifteen. She graduated from Juniper Superior School in 1948 and taught a term at Biggar Ridge School in order to earn money to attend Normal School. Kaye graduated with a teaching degree in 1950 and immediately began teaching at the Juniper School. Kaye loved to reminisce about her adventures teaching grades 1-8 in a one-room school house and was always quick to remind us that she never had to resort to using the strap in her classroom.

Kaye and Paul married in August 1951 and made their home on Pine Street for over sixty years. As Paul established his business, Kaye focused on the task of raising three rambunctious boys. In 1965, once the youngest of the boys entered school, Kaye began crossing the yard every day to work in the office with Paul, where she worked until she retired in 1995.

Kaye was a devoted member of the United Church and was active in the choir and UCW for decades. As well, Kaye was a long-time member of the Eastern Star. As a couple, Paul and Kaye loved to travel and were happiest when entertaining family and friends for potluck dinners, bridge games, or other activities.

Paul and Kaye loved to spend time at their camp on Miramichi Lake and did an equal amount of entertaining while there. As well, they enjoyed spending time in Florida each winter. In both locations, Kaye was most likely to be spotted in the water, as she loved to swim. All of Kaye’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren have wonderful memories of time at the lake.

Visitation will be held from Faith Memorial United Church, 175 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 2:00 pm from the church, followed by a reception in the Foster Fellowship Hall. Rev. Susan Estabrooks will officiate. Interment will be in the United Church Community Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Clay Marco and Dr. Bruce Lockhart for their compassionate care of Kaye during her time in the hospital. As well, we would like to thank the caregivers who provided Kaye with professional yet loving care during her extended stay in the hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Memorial United Church or the Alzheimer’s Society would be much appreciated by the family. www.gibersonfuneraldirectors.ca (506) 392-1115

When not behind the wheel of his 18 wheeler, he enjoyed his time spent at home. As an avid reader, Fred was rarely without the latest novel from his favourite authors. He loved to watch his grandchildren grow and learn. And when time allowed he loved to sit down to a good game of crib or 45s. He was notorious for his blind 30 for 60, and making it! He also created many loving bonds with those whose were close to his family. He will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, papa and friend.

There will be no public visitation at this time. A celebration of Fred's life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Wharton Cemetery in Upper Kent at a later date. 995 Obituary:

The death of Frederick Bertrand Kilfoil "Bert" occurred on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the River View Manor surrounded by his family. Born July 20, 1942 in Bath he was the son of the late Louis and Rita (MacIsaac) Kilfoil. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary; 1 brother, Kevin.

Loving son, husband, brother, uncle and grampy. Growing up along the banks of the Monquart instilled great family values, strong work ethic and deep faith in God. Bert was known for his dedication to family, community and education. He spent many years as a teacher in the Miramichi area and served on the Board of Directors for Beaubear Credit Union and the Carleton Co-operative, Florenceville. Bert was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. In retirement is when he fulfilled his love of farming and agriculture. He had many contributions to the New Brunswick Sheep Breeders Association.
Perhaps best of all, Bert is best known for his vocational skills in carpentry and diesel mechanics. He loved a great game of cards with friends, a good waltz and fiddle tunes. He found great pleasure in all his grandchildren; from their antics on the farm to being a dedicated fan at the girls basketball games. His kindness will always be remembered.

Bert is survived by his four children, Maureen Kilfoil (Scott O'Brien), Andrea Ingraham (Andrew), Marc Kilfoil (Deanna), and Nicole Kilfoil Oulton (Wayne); 8 grandchildren, Erin, Tara, Ty, Josee, Chet, Jorja, Nate and Brooklyn Mary-Joe; 6 siblings, Terry Kilfoil, Edward Kilfoil, Ben Kilfoil, Des Kilfoil, Martha Kilfoil and Monica Whitridge as well as several nieces, nephew and extended family.

996 Obituary:

The death of G. Milford Armour of Hartley Settlement occurred on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Carleton Manor, Woodstock after battling COPD, the after effects of strokes, and dementia for many years. Born December 22, 1942 in Maplehurst, NB, he was the son of the late Archie and Leona (DeMerchant) Armour. Milford was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Haines) in 2011, several siblings, extended family and special friends.

Milford is survived by his 6 children, Ronald Haines (Natalie), Ellen Armour, Monica Armour, Virginia Van Horne, George Armour and Greg Armour (Darcy); 5 grandchildren, Joel Haines, Brody Lyon, and Colton, Gabriel and EmmaRose Van Horne; as well as several siblings, extended family, and special friends.

He was known as Moe, Uncle Moe, Skip, and probably a few other names. He was one of at least 17 children born to Leona.

Milford loved having babies and children around, socializing with many who came to the house or his garage, charming the ladies (even the nurses and other staff at the Carleton Manor in the short time he was there), listening to country and gospel music (especially the Gaithers), watching John Wayne movies (“Big Jake! I haven’t seen that in years.”), fresh veggies, berries (especially raspberries), cake, whipped cream (“Dad, do you want some berries with that whipped cream?”), reading (Reader’s Digest, novels, and newspapers were favourites … “Don’t read all the words off the newspaper!”), Christmas, playing cards, and collecting coins. He was generous. If he had it and could give or loan it to you (food, vehicles, lodging, etc.), then he would.

He was proud of serving in the Army from approximately 1962 -1967, including a time being stationed at CFS Alert (500 miles south of the North Pole, as he would tell people). There was lots of snow there in July but he didn’t see Santa Claus while he was there. It was in the army that he learned that his official name was Golden Milford, not Milford Golden, resulting in him having to be discharged and then re-enlisted. He was proud of the medals he received for serving in CFS Alert and for Canada 150.

Milford and Mary Ann married on December 29, 1962. He moved his young family of 3 daughters to Toronto around 1969. He worked as a mechanic while there. George was born while the family lived in Toronto. Ronnie, Bev, Barb, and Becky all came to visit at various times. In 1974, he moved the family back to New Brunswick, where they built their house in Hartley Settlement around 1975. Greg was born and the family was complete. Milford worked for others for a few years before building his garage and opening Armour’s Auto Repair. Milford lived in their home until July 4, 2019 when he moved into the Carleton Manor.

Special thanks to Ellen, who was his primary caregiver since his first stroke in 2012.

Visitation will be held from the Tracey Mills United Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 3:00 pm from the church. Rev Steven Little will officiate. The interment will be in the Tracey Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Tracey Mills United Baptist Church would be appreciated.
